Asbestos Inspection and Testing

At Above Environmental, we provide asbestos inspections for homeowners, property managers, contractors, and construction firms. Our role is to help clients identify the presence of asbestos-containing materials and understand whether further action may be required before renovation, demolition, or property transfer.

Inspections focus on building materials commonly associated with asbestos, including flooring, insulation, ceiling materials, mastics, and exterior components. When suspect materials are identified, representative samples are collected and analyzed by Eurofins Built Environment Testing in Portland.

Clients receive a chain of custody, laboratory results, and a plain-language report explaining the findings and outlining practical next steps. We do not perform asbestos abatement, allowing us to provide independent, objective assessments without a financial incentive to recommend removal.

Asbestos Information

Asbestos is a naturally occurring silicate material that has been used in construction materials in the United States for decades. It is plentiful in the earth’s crust, highly heat resistant, and extremely durable. However, asbestos is also the most regulated hazardous material in the world due to the severe health risks from inhaling its fibers.

Although no longer used in the construction industry in the United States, asbestos remains in millions of homes and buildings.  As such, most jurisdictions require an asbestos survey prior to remodeling, renovation, or structural repair.
